Estonia is a small country and 70% of the Estonia population lives in towns and cities. The main cities are located close to the Baltic coastline. Further inland, there are mainly small towns and villages.This is the capital city of Estonia and the largest city, with around 500,000 inhabitants. This is the political and cultural heart of the country, where the government buildings and embassies are located, as well as theatres, museums and many old religious buildings. Tallinn is located on the Gulf of Finland, and there has been a settlement here since the 12th century. Today, the city is a major Baltic port and a key industrial center for shipbuilding, manufacturing, metalworking and food processing.
