Famous Cities and Towns in Estonia


Estonia is a small country and 70% of the Estonia population lives in towns and cities. The main cities are located close to the Baltic coastline. Further inland, there are mainly small towns and villages.
Tallinn City 
This is the capital city of Estonia and the largest city, with around 500,000 inhabitants. This is the political and cultural heart of the country, where the government buildings and embassies are located, as well as theatres, museums and many old religious buildings. Tallinn is located on the Gulf of Finland, and there has been a settlement here since the 12th century. Today, the city is a major Baltic port and a key industrial center for shipbuilding, manufacturing, metalworking and food processing.

City of Tartu
Tartu is the second largest in southeastern Estonia and is the oldest town in the Baltic, founded in 103.it is home to Tartu University and the old Vanemuine Theater. The city has always been the cradle of the Estonian Song Festival, Theatre and Estonian State. In The National Awakening period, this place was known as the Athens of the Emajogi River.

 Narva River
Narva has around 67,000 inhabitants and lies on the border with Russia, on the banks of the Narva River. Narva was founded by the Danes in 1223 and fell to the Livonian Knights in 1346. Two fortresses stand on the banks of the Narva. The town is a leading textile center and producer of electric power. There are several other industries in Narva, including sawmills, flax, and food-processing factories.

  Otepaa Town
This is the winter capital of Estonia since there is a lot of snow there in winter, which attracts skiers and other winter-sports enthusiasts. It hosts a popular annual ski marathon. The town is located on the shore of Lake Puhajarve, about an hour’s travel south from Tart. It was first mentioned in written documents dating from 1116, when a fortress was built here. 


You can be picked at the airport when you arrive in the country with a taxi at a very cheap price. Get to visit the countries cities when you visit.
